The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) has mandated that cryptographic standards be upgraded by 2030, five years earlier than the corresponding date specified by the U.S. National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST). It requires that vulnerable cryptographic protocols be replaced with quantum-resistant ones. These new encryption methods were among others submitted to testing by the international cryptographic community over a period of ten years in a competition which eliminated several promising candidates.

The transition to this post-quantum cryptography is very involved, comparable to Y2K at the turn of the century. We show you tools and processes to audit your encryption and determine a cost-efficient plan to upgrade or replace your encryption where required.

You routinely use and share data which must remain private for at least ten years, or twenty, or fifty or forever! With bad actors already eavesdropping or otherwise stealing data now to decrypt it later with a quantum computer that data needs to be safeguarded immediately and cannot wait for the time-consuming process of getting your entire system up to standard.

While the importance of thoroughly auditing an organisation's cryptography to long-term security and standards compliance cannot be over-stated, so-called "harvest now, decrypt later" attacks leave some organisations with urgent spot fires which they need to extinguish! We guide you to trace the life cycle of such data and identify every cryptographic process which touches it.
